Shakira Shares her Motherly and Scientific thoughts for little Children.
Shakira is known on the world’s stage for being a singer, songwriter, dance choreographer, and entrepreneur. She has been recognized with esteem by her musician peers. Shakira’s love and desire to help financially poor children moved her to bring a dream of hers into reality. She saw children living in poverty missing out on receiving a quality education. When the opportunity materialized through hard work, she founded the Barefoot Foundation (Pies Descalzos Foundation) with this mission:
“The Barefoot Foundation works to ensure that every Colombian child can exercise their right to a quality education. Our model targets displaced and vulnerable communities by addressing their unique needs.”
Presently there are five schools across Colombia that provide education and meals for several thousand children.
Shakira is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
For this article, we are highlighting the side that few get to see. It is understandable because it involves her children and family. Family time is family time.
By Shakira sharing her thoughts on what children need and her experience in the article, “What motherhood taught me about a child’s developing brain,” it reveals another facet of this (Said with all due respect) passionate woman.
Hence, let’s view some of the statements from this mom. Like moms around the world raising their children with love and insight, she possesses a concern to know about how her child’s mind/brain is growing, so to speak.
Specific Thoughts From the article Shakira: What motherhood taught me about a child’s developing brain | World Economic Forum
Here are specific expressions Shakira made from this linked article.
Points A, B, and C are considered in the next heading as to the effect of this article on one writer’s personal feelings on this subject of a child’s developing brain.
- A) Millions of children spend their earliest moments starved of the protection and play they need.
- B) Advances in neuroscience teach us that parents and caregivers, healthcare and early learning professionals, governments and societies can shape the brain structure of every child for the better by enriching and protecting their environment, from the moment they are conceived until they reach five years old.
- C) Being a mother of two children who are currently in the midst of their peak brain-development periods, I definitely feel the weight of this immense opportunity and responsibility, which I’m sure is true for many parents and caregivers across the world. As I look at my children, I ask myself – am I doing everything I can to help their brains grow strong? Am I giving them enough love, protection, and nutrition for optimal development? Are my actions positively contributing to their experiences and ultimately their cognitive, social and emotional development? I believe I am, and I am fortunate enough to be in a position to give them these critical elements of early childhood development.
Personal Feelings and Observations
My feelings were stirred for probably the same reasons yours were in reading the whole article.
Shakira: What motherhood taught me about a child’s developing brain
A child is meek, trusting, and vulnerable by design in the early stages of life. When a baby needs something that child is not going to “be tough; you will hear about it. And the strong, yet tenderly affection parent, is able to exercise the feelings of endearment and protection for the child’s welfare. If the children are our future, as one songwriter states, then parents go to great lengths to safeguard this precious future. The child is a gift.
When I see the motherly side of Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll express concern for all children, you know this is another common ground that shows the human race is interconnected.
When Shakira asked, “Are my actions positively contributing to their experiences and ultimately their cognitive, social and emotional development?”
Then when she answered, “I believe I am, and I am fortunate enough to be in a position to give them these critical elements of early childhood development.”
It caused my mind to recall a few things about Shakira as to her present child-nurturing environment. Shakira has and continues to work hard for her children to have the nourishment needed to grow up with thinking ability. And her love of humanity desire is for many others to be in the frame of mind where they also feel, “I believe I am” helping my children to grow up bright and strong. – I will relate thinking ability once more.
Yes, my mind referenced additional items I read about Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll.
*Shakira has shown a real go-get-’em personality all her life. When she has a passion for something, then she takes the time to learn what is needed and gives it her best go at it.
*Shakira speaks five languages. Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, and Italian.
Would you say Shakira has benefited from receiving the required nutrients to develop her brain?
2.a Children need the proper nutrition daily.
2.b Children need to feel loved and secure. There should be no doubt in their little hearts and brains the parents or caregivers are doing the best for them, as in the best way they are able to do it.
2.c If you will, a child needs daily nutrition or nourishment in these following areas: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
It all works together to develop the brain. Even as adults, we continue to take in the nourishment in these three areas. Parents pass on thoughts or education to their children.
In some lands, like Shakira observed, some parents are unable to pass on the basic nutrition needed for their developing children no matter how much they want it to be so. Hence, in a personal way and a mother’s tender affections for children, she has done what she could to help.
Author’s Public Notes
At the beginning of each year, the Product of Culture website feature articles on people who have been very successful on the world’s culture scene. It is not the success of these few, like Shakira, within itself, they are picked to be featured. It may be one or all the listed common ground of thoughts, interests, emotions, and yes; even environments that the author has picked these personalities.
Often, when a person makes it in the “big time” as they say, then it is not highlighted, or forgotten, such persons still have a common ground with humanity. The treatment of such persons at times can even be mean-spirited. To ignore that these are still people who laugh, cry, live life, and love their families, as they may also love you if you give them a chance, is something merciful people never do on purpose.
Hence, personalities like Shakira are featured periodically to show our neighbors in today’s culture.
*The respected prophet Jesus (Mt 22:36) once explained … which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” ‘You must love Jehovah (God’s Personal Name) your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.
In observation of reading about Jesus’ life, the author remains neutral in political and social conflicts between groups and countries. This outlook/stand has allowed the writer to talk with and help as many people possible (groups/backgrounds) with thoughts and concern about their spirituality and what Jesus is doing now in heaven. He hasn’t forgotten about the children nor the parents. Jesus or his Father have not forgotten about any of us. It is also observed most are doing the very best they can in the meantime. This writer respects people choices and their rights. Thank you for the readership and your love for all people.
