On July 1, 2014; Eli went through explaining his disgust with Facebook’s reported emotional experiments on its users. Discretion is advised due to the reason Eli was highly upset. Since this was the first I heard of it, and Eli is often what I would say “smart on” in the technology field for solutions, I wanted to hear about this before I looked it up myself.
On July 2, 2014 Eli provided instructions on

He also reiterated the reasons for deleting his highly profitable account at Facebook. On the same day, July 2, 2014; the following news report came out in London.
“British regulators are investigating revelations that Facebook treated hordes of its users like laboratory rats in an experiment probing into their emotions.”

The term VS means to be against something. Eli and other reports state reasons that will make the most trusting of people say, “I can’t agree with this.”
Now this Geek Brain Dump post is not to tell you what to do in this matter of keeping or deleting your Facebook account. It is to keep you informed of how positive Information Technology can be used and also the negative ways it can be implemented.
Now allow my final thoughts for this article to be on Eli. Even though he says that he does not get into morals or ethics, make no mistake about it, in his analyzing the Facebook experiments he is expressing principles being violated that pertains to “Golden rules” that even Franklyn Covey has talked about. Covey mentions in class curriculum on Ethics, to use full, accurate, and honest information in everything you communicate. There other principles from additional sources to consider like “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” Would anyone want their powers of reason to be influenced in a negative way?
So, you have to decide for yourself at least 2 things:
- Has Facebook as a business crossed ethical lines for you?
- What is the cost to you for keeping or deleting the account?
The decision / choice is yours.
