Ecstasy of Gold- Friend or Foe

The ecstasy of gold, do you feel its power?
Run, run, run, ever trying to attain it.

But once you find it, what do you see?

The ecstasy of gold, how much is it worth this hour?
People feel it has all the clout.

Always running, but not attaining.
Always seeking, but never figuring it out.

Real gold is wrapped up in an individual’s priceless heart.
Metal is a pale comparison.

The religious fever for it oh do not catch.
The mind will lose reasoning power as the virus spreads.

Really, who decides its worth?

Contrarily, the opinion of one over the other.

In the end the mad hot pursuit leads where?

The Ecstasy of Gold; are you a friend or foe?

Daily Appreciate The Big and Little Things

The Need for Little Things

There are the big things that bring a great amount of excitement and appreciation to our lives. Think about it, how often do the big events happen? The kind of events that bring great, great joy! This is why they are “big” right? The happy endorphins produced through the brain’s pituitary gland goes off the scale!

Still, life is not meant to run none stop without having time to reflect on past, present and future projects. Who wouldn’t say they aren’t “busy” today? “Busy” doing what? People will agree most are daily engaged in what is a priority for them.” A high number of the population falls into one or both of these categories.

· Busy making a living

· Busy looking for big recreation

Is life meant to be so much more? Is there room to add more items for enjoying life into our daily routine?

Take a moment of pause now to read this poem. By Author James L.

The Need for Little Things

It is often gracious to do the little things. The Need For Little Things-Penmenship

Without them, people will miss out the joy they bring.

A simple greeting with a smile.

It lets the person know you are worth their while.

Running errands for people to show you care.

As days go by, they will remember you were there.

What would life be like without the little things?

It just seems like we wouldn’t notice any blessings.

Many little things turn into a big gesture.

For friendships, it turns into love of a warm vesture.

Why When and How to Say Thank you

You are Welcome

Thank youAt times today, people make jokes when someone expresses gratitude more than once for a kind deed. ‘It is not necessary’ they lighthearted responded.’ How do you feel about this? Is it necessary or not to say thank you one or more times for a kind act?

Here are three reasons why people express thank you:

  • It shows you pay attention to what others do for you.
  • It shows you have a spirit that is willing to share something good with others; not just to the person looking at you in the mirror.
  • Saying thank you gives the individual a gift. Yes, a gift of appreciation.

Appreciation involves a person being in full awareness or understanding of something. How does it make you feel when you receive the gift of appreciation?

With the above knowledge, do you see why “Thank you” is needed in the world?

Granted, like with a lot of phrases, a person can go ‘overboard.’ When a person says it so much to an individual that the word “thank you” loses its value. Therefore, how can we not go to the edge and over when expressing this kind word of appreciation?

What about this scenario?

You meet a potential employer on a job interview. While shaking the manager’s hand express “Thank you for giving me this opportunity to meet with you.” When the employer reads through your skill set, and it is clear he or she is commending you on your abilities, allow for the interviewer to finish their statements; then respond with a thank you. Be sure to observe age differences. For example, teenagers (16 to 20) expressing ‘thank you Sir” to an older manager who is a male will show the interviewer you know how to address/approach customers in retail sales.

Point of note: What if the manager happens to be a woman you ask? Well, in this day and age, it may be best to say “thank you” Mrs. or Miss [Last Name]. When in doubt just say “thank you” without additional titles or pleasantries.

The expression “thank you Madam” has two meanings. One is a respectful/polite way in addressing a woman. The other definition gives a connotation western genre readers know pertains to a house manager of Ill-repute. Your goal is to show appreciation; not mistakenly give offense.

Back to the scenario.

When the interview is over it is appropriate to say “thank you” once more whether they have offered the job to you or not. Why is this important?

Take note of these reasons

1) You may be a runner up for the position. If the primary person does not take the job offer, you will be first on their list to call.

2) Interviews may go so great that a shrewd employer will contact you with a different job offer. You may find it is even better than the one you interviewed for!

3) Do not burn bridges that you don’t have to burn.

4) Last but not least. Keep the bigger picture in mind. People are always developing themselves as cultural and dignified individuals. It is a worthy goal. Each job interview helps you to refine your skills on conversation with live people in your presence. Things you learn from one interview carries over to the next.

You are WelcomeSaying “THANK YOU” and its counterpart “WELCOME” are pleasant words. Never may the meaning of such words be lost. It shows an appreciative spirit; a spirit of giving and receiving that is beneficial for all.

I have a pride in my scars, not because they show I’m strong but because they helped me to see I was wrong. They taught me a lesson each one their own. They show of a battle I lost and stood alone.

The scar on my heart shows of a time I believed in him too quickly.

The scar on my hand shows of a time I gave too freely.

The scar on my lip showed of a time my words were like venom.

School Lunch-Nutritious?

Smoked Fish Salad

Writing-in-Notebook_thumb.jpgIt is early in the morning and the alarm clock goes off. Already the average person probably has at least 10-20 assignments on their to-do list if not more-even school-aged children. Sadly, eating a healthy meal may not be one of them. Which is easier? A toaster pastry or eggs and ham? Thankfully many schools offer healthy breakfast and lunches…or do they? Let us discuss what choices a child or teenager has to choose from at school including what is available and what kids are most likely to choose. Then we can talk about how students can keep a healthy diet through their school years.

At the first lunch bell something is different. The vending machines are not working. To prevent kids from drinking soda with their lunch, many schools lock down vending machines during lunch periods. So what do the lunch lines offer? Well, of course it differs from school to school. Just about every school offers a hot lunch that is nutritious, but may or may not attract the appetitFaculty Meeting on School Luncheses of hungry students. So, what if the hot lunch is not appealing? Then they may opt for a cold deli-style sandwich or a hot slice of pizza.  These options can normally be had as a meal with either a fresh salad bar or canned food offerings as well as a milk carton. The problem? These meals cost anywhere from $2-4 dollars. That may not seem like much, but for the same price the students could probably get two cookies, a bag of chips, and a sports drink. Which would appeal more to the student? Although certain students can get free or reduced lunch, the average person may choose to cut their costs to pocket more lunch money, and not make the healthy choices they should.

So how can students keep healthy? Make sure they are educated. The schools may encourage healthy meals, but the students need to fully understand the benefits of eating healthy meals, as well as the risks of eating unhealthy, to be motivated to make good decisionsSmoked Fish Salad. Cold lunch (sack lunch-as some call it), is always an inexpensive option. This can save much money, and ensure that your student is eating a balanced, healthy, meal. Those who may be on a tight financial budget should remember to apply for the free or reduced lunch program if need be.Tofu Vegetables Rice

In the fast-paced world of today, many sacrifice their health for the sake of convenience or to save money. It is simply not worth it. Habits are formed during childhood and the teenage years that can be beneficial or detrimental for the rest of our lives. The earlier we start, the easier it will be to make a healthy, happy future for ourselves and our students.Students With Lunches In Backpack

Talib Discussion III and Caveat – Conversations on Culture Questions on Life

Handshake agreement

Dear Readers,

Talib, recently gave consideration to a thought provoking book titled, “What Does The Bible Really Teach?” Publishers jw.org

Talib’s in-depth reading of the book prompted him to make the following statements and questions in this beginning article of Talib’s Discussion. Today we conclude this segment of Talib’s thoughts in the Conversations on Culture, Questions on Life articles.

Question: The book claims he (Jesus) came down to earth in human form but at the same time the son of God. He’s also referred to as the arch angel Michael. How can one entity possess so many personalities (roles/responsibilities)?

Then Talib stated: “Caveat: Its an article of my faith Islam to believe, love and respect Jesus Christ but as a man & prophet of God. I therefore do not mean in any way to demean the person of Christ or the faith.”

Sir, you have correctly stated what the Holy Bible and the book What does the Bible Really Teach? says about Jesus’ role/responsibilities as Michael “the archangel.”  You will be happy to know What does the Bible Reach Teach? has a very helpful appendix! On page 218, under the heading Who is Michael The Archangel? it gives the definition of archangel. ‘This term means “chief angel.”’ The book expounds further on his responsibilities as “Army Leader.”

Older man and seekerTalib, names mean a lot to God. In many cultures people have a surname (family name) along with a first and middle name. Why do parents spend so much time deciding what to name their child? Even today, parents give their children names found in the Holy Scriptures. Oh how they desire for their children to live up to such names and their meanings. Talib, in doing research on your name, it means “Seeker.” Therefore, you are actively living up to the name by seeking the word and understanding of the very “Knowledge of God!” – Proverbs 2:5

Likewise, it is not surprising that the Grand Creator, who we imitate, names Jesus according to his roles, responsibilities, and in honor of him. E.g. Michael means “Who is like God?”  For additional research, see scriptures in the Holy Bible of Genesis why he changed Abram’s name to Abraham and his wife’s name Sari to Sarah.

Sir Talib, it is very much appreciated you mentioning your faith and interest in spiritual matters.  In addressing the caveat, your questions do not demean or disrespect Jesus.

You are correct. During different time periods in history, Jesus has been a powerful being with a spiritual body in heaven. Then for his brief time on this earth of 33 years, he took on a human/man’s body and served as the prophet of God; also known as the Messiah. After he completed his assignment on this earth, he went back to heaven in a spiritual body. He once again has great power and authority second only to his Father Jehovah God.

Remember this Talib. Jesus and Jehovah are 2 different personalities. What does this mean?

They are separate. They are not the same. They do not share the same spiritual body. Jesus is not the Almighty God.

Jehovah is the Almighty God. Jesus is second in command.

Handshake agreement

You and I are different people in different bodies right?
Well Jesus and Jehovah both have different spiritual bodies. But they certainly are one in accomplishing a purpose. Namely, God’s Kingdom and how it will solve ALL problems. Let me say this again. God’s Kingdom will solve ALL people’s problems.

Humans today can join with them in being one in purpose, but still having different bodies, talents, responsibilities, and roles.

Sir Talib, thanks once again for your questions and statements. Did you know the publishers of What Does The Bible Really Teach? offer free home Bible Studies?  Yes, you will never be charged for requesting one. Ask and you shall receive. You have this as a guarantee here.  Free Bible Study Request

Kindest Regards.
