Dear Readers,
Talib, recently gave consideration to a thought provoking book titled, “What Does The Bible Really Teach?” Publishers jw.org
Talib’s in-depth reading of the book prompted him to make the following statements and questions in this beginning article of Talib’s Discussion. Today we conclude this segment of Talib’s thoughts in the Conversations on Culture, Questions on Life articles.
Question: The book claims he (Jesus) came down to earth in human form but at the same time the son of God. He’s also referred to as the arch angel Michael. How can one entity possess so many personalities (roles/responsibilities)?
Then Talib stated: “Caveat: Its an article of my faith Islam to believe, love and respect Jesus Christ but as a man & prophet of God. I therefore do not mean in any way to demean the person of Christ or the faith.”
Sir, you have correctly stated what the Holy Bible and the book What does the Bible Really Teach? says about Jesus’ role/responsibilities as Michael “the archangel.” You will be happy to know What does the Bible Reach Teach? has a very helpful appendix! On page 218, under the heading Who is Michael The Archangel? it gives the definition of archangel. ‘This term means “chief angel.”’ The book expounds further on his responsibilities as “Army Leader.”
Talib, names mean a lot to God. In many cultures people have a surname (family name) along with a first and middle name. Why do parents spend so much time deciding what to name their child? Even today, parents give their children names found in the Holy Scriptures. Oh how they desire for their children to live up to such names and their meanings. Talib, in doing research on your name, it means “Seeker.” Therefore, you are actively living up to the name by seeking the word and understanding of the very “Knowledge of God!” – Proverbs 2:5
Likewise, it is not surprising that the Grand Creator, who we imitate, names Jesus according to his roles, responsibilities, and in honor of him. E.g. Michael means “Who is like God?” For additional research, see scriptures in the Holy Bible of Genesis why he changed Abram’s name to Abraham and his wife’s name Sari to Sarah.
Sir Talib, it is very much appreciated you mentioning your faith and interest in spiritual matters. In addressing the caveat, your questions do not demean or disrespect Jesus.
You are correct. During different time periods in history, Jesus has been a powerful being with a spiritual body in heaven. Then for his brief time on this earth of 33 years, he took on a human/man’s body and served as the prophet of God; also known as the Messiah. After he completed his assignment on this earth, he went back to heaven in a spiritual body. He once again has great power and authority second only to his Father Jehovah God.
Remember this Talib. Jesus and Jehovah are 2 different personalities. What does this mean?
They are separate. They are not the same. They do not share the same spiritual body. Jesus is not the Almighty God.
Jehovah is the Almighty God. Jesus is second in command.

You and I are different people in different bodies right?
Well Jesus and Jehovah both have different spiritual bodies. But they certainly are one in accomplishing a purpose. Namely, God’s Kingdom and how it will solve ALL problems. Let me say this again. God’s Kingdom will solve ALL people’s problems.
Humans today can join with them in being one in purpose, but still having different bodies, talents, responsibilities, and roles.
